Bobby Rozario & Rudra

Bobby Rozario is a guitarist and composer with Indian/Portuguese roots based in New York City. A third generation musician, is trained in hindustani classical tradition from india. His other influences include some of guitar's greatest virtuosi such as John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia. Through all these backgrounds Mr. Rozario has developed his own unique tone and playing style. His interpretations are characterized by hindustani classical playing that brings together the characteristics of sitar and sarod. He has traveled and recorded extensively with a variety of artists. His distinct style of interpreting raga-based playing has been sought after by legendary musicians from india / Southern Asia such as Padmashree Anup Jalota, Hariharan, HansRaj Han, Tabla MaestroTari Khan and Ghulam Ali. For his most recent creation Rudra showcases original acoustic fusions, combining Hindustani Classical Raagas with Carnatic & Hindustani rhythms (South & North Indian rhythms) the combination & complexity of unusual rhythmic structures blending it with western jazz. The compositions are arranged in an uncommon style of melodic & rhythmic playing, merged with speed & dexterity, while still maintaining the soulfulness of the music. There is a free flowing musical conversation which maintains the organic & lively elements of the repertoire.
